Historic origins of the Crieff Mission
Our story
Early Origins (Pre-1863)
The initial Catholic presence in Crieff was tied to the historic Drummond family, prominent local landowners who remained devout Catholics through the Jacobite period.
The very first St Fillan’s structure was built in 1799. As the town grew—with Irish labourers brought in to work on local estates and industrial developments—the congregation outgrew this first building.
Current Church
(1871–present)
In 1871, the present St Fillan’s Church was built in a Gothic Revival style, featuring rock-faced sandstone and a semi-circular apse.
Interior
Inside, the church is known for its traditional, tranquil atmosphere and beautiful stained-glass windows, prominently featuring depictions of St Fillan and St John the Baptist.

A warm welcome
Jesus is truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. We warmly invite you to come into this holy place and spend some quiet time with Our Lord in prayer, reflection, and peace. Whether you come with thanksgiving, with worries, or simply seeking a moment of stillness, Christ waits for you here with love and mercy. All are welcome to pause, pray, and rest awhile in His presence..
Baptism
Through the Sacrament of Baptism, individuals are welcomed into the Church, cleansed of sin, reborn in Christ, and united within the Christian community.
Holy Communion
Holy Communion unites believers with Christ’s sacrifice, nourishing faith. Bread and wine signify His body and blood, fostering remembrance, grace, community, repentance, thanksgiving, and hope.
